LEGACY Starts off BIG

I usually come in about 3-4 hours early to the venue for hair, makeup and to get “in the zone”.
On Friday night, I arrived to SteppingStone Theatre at about 4:45PM or so. When I got there, costuming, hair and makeup was in full swing taking care of 10+ performers.
The smell of hair product and makeup was all over the place. Hot irons were running and costume racks were full with beautiful, COMPLETE costumes by Lisa Castillo (who I am not related to by the way- I know what you’re wondering). She is my good friend and costumer.

I went to the SST offices to turn in some paperwork from ticket sales I had made and I was then notified that we had 37 seats left for that night. Not, 337. THREE,SEVEN. WHAT!? I was pleasantly surprised. I knew we would do well. However, I did not think we would have a sold out show on memorial weekend. Usually most people are too busy on vacation or doing “up-north” type of stuff. I was wrong again. People were purchasing all the tickets left so see us dance.

Saturday night was flawless. If you know me, you know I’m very difficult to please when it comes to the stage. I don’t let people get away with half-assed work. If you didn’t know that- tada! Anyhow-  It looked amazing. Costuming, hair, makeup, dance, music, lights, set …everything. I could not have been happier that night. What also made me happy was seeing the happy faces of the cast, the production team and especially the new dancers to LEGACY. It’s not like this was their first performance with LEGACY but it was their first real show and they were super happy. That made my night; seeing them enjoy the fruit of their hard work.

The Saturday 1PM show was pretty full too. It was not officially “sold out” but the crowd was big enough to make the stage shake from the rumble. It was very intense. Again, the show went very well.

LEGACY Live Entertainment, LLC is in full swing. We have four BIG SHOWS left at SteppingStone Theatre and it’ going to be a trip. Especially the Saturday Night show… watch. We’ve gotten so many complements on the costuming this year. Also, the “refinements” we made to make the show non-stop. The only time it really stops is intermission. Other than that, hang on to your panties (if you’re wearing any) because they’ll fall off from the excitement!!!

Lastly,  I want to thank all the fans for the gifts: the hand-made bracelets, stuffed animals, flowers and a very special MJ ring given to me by Shayla- the biggest MJ fan I’ve EVER met. Check out “Michaels Mission” on facebook to learn more about what she does. Shayla- you’re amazing. Much Love.

-Luis

P.S.

Don’t get caught paying full price for the tickets at the door. Get them in advance to save some money. The show kicks ass whether you pay $15 or $12.

BREAKING NEWS: LEGACY's BIGGEST MOVE YET!!!

Here it is... BIG NEWS!!
After much thought, feedback and evaluation, I’ve decided to turn LEGACY into a legitimate business entity that will continue to capture the imagination of audiences everywhere we go, as we pay tribute to the King of Pop: Michael Jackson. “LEGACY- A Tribute to The King of Pop” will be operating under LEGACY Live Entertainment, LLC as of June 6th, 2011. I will be heading this entertainment business with the support of my continuing team members, loving family and friends.

The show “LEGACY- A Tribute to the King of Pop” began as an idea in a small office where Gloria Gamboa, Marques Mathias and I pitched it to SteppingStone Theatre in 2009. We had no idea where it would go but we knew it was a risk and that risk has paid off ten times more that we all anticipated after months of hard work and dedication. Today, I see all the support and admiration for our work and it would be a complete waste to stop now after so much work and success.
LEGACY has donated thousands of dollars to the community through our work and I couldn’t be more proud of my entire team and the volunteers who helped make this happen.

As we conclude the last set of major shows at SteppingStone Theatre this June, I leave with my hands full of appreciation. SteppingStone Theatre was the key to our success and I couldn’t be more appreciative for the risk they took on this vision. Thank you SteppingStone for opening your doors to this production and I look forward to return to your stage and beautiful theatre in the future. Richard, thank you for giving me the chance to take risks; I’ve learned so much about myself and the process through this experience and we couldn’t be here without your blessing and support. I’m forever grateful for all you and your staff has done for us.

As far as LEGACY Live Entertainment, LLC is concerned; we’re going to entertain, captivate, inspire, pay tribute and KICK MAJOR ASS doing it.

I’m proud to introduce…
